Droitwich Spa Football Club are hoping lots of local supporters will watch tomorrow’s FA Vase tie with Coventry United.

The two sides have met before – in MFL Division 2 in 2014/15 during United’s unstoppable journey through the Midland League. United came out on top on both occasions and have got stronger since; both on and off the field.

After forming in 2013 and now playing at the impressive Butts Arena in Coventry and with a good following, there are just 3 players remaining from their Division 2 campaign: Chris Cox,Rob Prinzel & Ben Vallance and United are now Managed by Terry Anderson.

By their standards, they have made a slow start to the season with 2 wins, a draw and 2 defeats from their opening 5 league games, and are on a poor run of 4 games without a win. They will however be strong favorites to progress in the Vase.

The Saltmen have started the season well with just 1 defeat and 3 victories (all with clean sheets) as well as 10 consecutive “home” wins at Walshes Meadow stretching back to last February, but will be undisputed underdogs here – an unfamiliar position for Mark Owen & Wayne Oliver’s men.

The club hopes to see as many local supporters as possible tomorrow at Walshes Meadow, Stourport, (KO 3pm) to cheer on the team and watch what is set to be an entertaining game as well as a huge challenge for the Saltine. The winners of this tie are set for another tough challenge as they will host Atherstone Town

Please note – supporters are advised for Saturday’s FA Vase tie with Coventry United that Stourport Carnival is taking place, and to expect heavy traffic on the way in to the ground.
An alternative route avoiding the town center (from Droiwich go through Ombersley, Holt Fleet & Shrawley) as well as an earlier than usual departure is advised as parking places due to the carnival may be limited.

Furthermore, there will be an admission charge increase on the day to £5 Adults & £3 Concessions to cover the various extra costs involved in hosting Buildbase FA Vase games.
Please note that season tickets are NOT valid for this fixture.

Programmes will be on sale at £1 each and the Bar / Burger Van / Club Shop will be open.
